1933 Germany vs. 2009 Israel

“The ‘main surprise’ of the recent Israeli elections Avigdor Lieberman is a man who really has much in common with Adolph Hitler.”

By Khalid Amayreh

Journalist — Occupied Palestine
Editor’s note: The rise of the rightwing in Israel through the recent Knesset elections that was preceded by the bloody war on Gaza — which left more than 1,300 dead most of them are women and children — has aroused a lot of criticism among Palestinians. Khalid Amayreh opines about the rise of Lieberman.

In the early 1930s, many in Germany saw the Nazis as the wave for the future. Thousands of new members joined the Nazi party, giving absolute allegiance to the Fuhrer, Adolph Hitler. In the spring of 1932, with six million unemployed, chaos in Berlin, starvation and ruin as well as the threat of Marxism, and a very uncertain future, the masses turned to Hitler by the millions.

In the German presidential elections, which took place on March 13, 1932, Hitler received over 11 million votes or 30 percent of the total. His opponent, President Hindenburg, received more than 18 million votes or 49 percent.

With Hindenburg failing to get the absolute majority he needed, Hitler seized the opportunity and immediately embarked on a frantic campaign, arousing national feelings and promising something for everyone. In the Third Reich, he said, every German girl would find a husband.

OF killed four Palestinians and wounded five others

-2009-02-17-

In the Gaza Strip, OF killed three members of the Palestinian resistance in two separate incidents in Khanyounis and Beit Hanoun towns on 5 and 9 February.

On 6 February, a Palestinian fisherman was wounded when OF naval troops opened fire at Palestinian fishing boat in Rafah town in the southern Gaza Strip.

In the West Bank, on 5 February, OF extra-judicially executed a member of the al-Quds Brigades (the armed wing of Islamic Jihad) in Qabatya village, southeast of Jenin. OF raided his family’s house one month ago and threatened to kill him if he did not surrender to them.

On 6 February, a Palestinian civilian was wounded when OF fired at a peaceful demonstration organized by Palestinian civilians in Hebron.

IOF warplanes blast a number of targets in Gaza

By InfoPalestina.com
RAFAH, (PIC)– Israeli warplanes blasted a number of targets along the Gaza Strip borders with Egypt and in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza late on Friday night.

Security sources told PIC reporter that the Israeli warplanes launched four raids on the border area in the vicinity of Rafah crossings along with a number of suburbs in Rafah city.

Six Palestinians were wounded in two Israeli aerial raids on Jabalia at midnight Friday after a warehouse containing wood was blasted in downtown Jabalia. The warehouse was completely burnt while nearby houses were damaged, security sources said.

Hamas: Israeli elections produced three heads of “terrorism”

GAZA, (PIC)– The Hamas Movement said on Tuesday that primary results of the Israeli elections have showed that three Israeli heads of “terrorism” were gaining ground in the Israeli arena.

Spokesman of Hamas Movement in Gaza Strip Fawzi Barhoum stressed that Hamas will remain steadfast and firm on the national constants and aspirations of the Palestinian people regardless of who would rule in the Hebrew state.

Three Israeli fanatic parties, Kadima of Tzipi Livni, the Likud of Binyamin Netanyahu, Yisrael Beiteinu of the ultra-rightist figure Avigdor Lieberman, reaped most of the seats in the Israeli Knesset (parliament).

In Gaza, a “ranch” turned to rubble

Piles of bricks, metal sheets and pieces of wood, are all that remains of tens of Palestinian homes in the Ezbet Abed Rabu (Abed Rabu Ranch) neighborhood, east of Jabaliya town in the northern Gaza Strip.

“There is nothing left for us to live for — the house was lost and the furniture destroyed,” lamented Suad Muhammad Abed Rabu, a 53-year-old mother sitting in front of a fire stove in a still intact room of her badly damaged home. “We prefer to die in our demolished house rather than live life as outcasts,” she said. “Since we were born we have been suffering. Since 1948 we have moved from one refuge to another and from one war to another. All, including Arabs and Europeans, are conspiring against us, they don’t want us to live.”

Oxfam: Israel blocks half of Gaza need

[ 03/02/2009 - 04:02 PM ] – palestineinfo.co.uk

GAZA, (PIC)– The British organization Oxfam international accused Israel of barring the arrival of more than 50 percent of the Palestinian citizens’ needs in the Gaza Strip through the closure of border crossings despite the disastrous situation of Palestinians there which was further aggravated by the war.

Commenting on the UN efforts to raise funds for Gaza, Oxfam said, in a statement received Tuesday by the PIC, money alone could not solve the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

“It is not enough for donor countries to reach out for their check books. They must also press Israel to open up the border crossings and make sure their aid money is used effectively,” Oxfam executive director Jeremy Hobbs said.

Doctors Document Gaza Horrors

A team of Arab doctors who rushed to the rescue of thousands of civilians injured during Israel’s 22-day onslaught against the sealed off Gaza Strip are coming back with heart-breaking stories of horror and never-seen-before injuries.

“The destruction and death I saw in front of my bare eyes were unprecedented in human history,” Mohamed el-Sheriey, an Egyptian doctor, told a joint press conference on Sunday, January 25.

“They couldn’t even be masterminded by the most evil-minded of fiction writers.”

Sharpeville 1960, Gaza 2009

The 2009 massacre in Gaza will be for international solidarity with Palestine what the Sharpeville massacre was for the international solidarity against apartheid in South Africa. (Wissam Nassar/MaanImages)

Dr. Haidar Eid, The Electronic Intifada, 22 January 2009

“Where can I bring him a father from? Where can I bring him a mother from? You tell me!”

These are the desperate words of Subhi Samuni to Al-Jazeera’s Gaza correspondent. Subhi lost 17 members of his immediate family, including the parents of his seven-year-old grandson. Shockingly, even as I write this article, corpses of the Samuni family are still being retrieved from under the rubble — 15 days after the Israeli occupation forces shelled the two houses. The Israeli army locked 120 members of the family in one house for 12 hours before they shelled it.

Subhi’s words echo the harsh reality of all Palestinians in Gaza: alone, abandoned, hunted down, brutalized, and, like Subhi’s grandson, orphaned. Twenty-two days of savage butchery took the lives of more than 1,300 Palestinians, at least 85 percent of them civilians, including 434 children, 104 women, 16 medics, four journalists, five foreigners, and 105 elderly people.

History did not begin with the Qassams
By Amira Hass (Haaretz.com)

Why The Jews Especially Massacred The Palestinian Children?

The question of why the barbaric Israeli military aggression, which had been ongoing since the 27th December 2008, was focussing itself on slaughtering Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip, has now been answered! As everybody knows, after two weeks had passed, the number of casualties caused by the holocaust have now reached over 900, and almost half of that number is made up of children. Other than because of the nature of the Jews, of not having pure hearts, the targetting of children is not a co-incidence.

A few months ago, in line with the Ramadhan of 1429 Hijriah, Khaled Misyal, the leader of Hamas, appointed around 3500 Palestinian children who have become hafidz (memorizers of Al-Quran. Those children who have memorized 30 juzs of Al-Quran have become a source of fear for the Zionist Jews. “If in the age of as young as that, they have already mastered the Quran, imagine what would they become in 20 years time from now?” Thus the thought that lingered in the mind of the Jews.

Haneyya gov’t: Some media serve Israel and try to weaken our people’s morale

[ 13/01/2009 - 09:55 AM ]

GAZA, (PIC)– The Palestinian government headed by premier Ismail Haneyya on Monday strongly denounced some media outlets for spreading rumors and serving the aims of the Israeli occupation in an attempt to undermine the morale of the Palestinian people and defame their courageous resistance.

In a statement received by the PIC, the government underlined that Israel uses all means to spread rumors and lies through dropping leaflets from warplanes, sending telephone messages and penetrating radio and TV transmission in order to deepen the internal rift and spread grudges among citizens.

    • Does Israel seek War or Peace? June 3, 2011
Gaza, (Pal Telegraph) - Successive Israeli governments have failed to achieve peace with the Palestinians. The reasons were sometimes vague, while in other times they were crystal clear.
