Khaled Hroub, author of several books on Hamas, including Hamas: A Beginner’s Guide, talks to Al Jazeera about the organisation’s social and political strengths and explains why he believes Hamas is looking forward to an Israeli ground incursion into the Gaza Strip.

GAZA, MINGGU — Pasukan tank Israel, sambil sesekali menembakkan senjatanya, menggelinding ke Jalur Gaza utara, Sabtu (3/1). Konvoi tank ini tampaknya akan menjadi awal serangan darat terhadap kelompok Hamas di Palestina.

Militer Israel memastikan bahwa satu pasukan telah masuk Jalur Gaza untuk merebut beberapa tempat yang ditengarai sebagai lokasi peluncuran roket.

GAZA, MINGGU – Seoarang anak Palestina tewas akibat tembakan tank Israel di Jalur Gaza Sabtu malam. Menurut para petugas medis, ia menjadi korban pertama serangan darat terhadap markas besar Hamas itu.

Selain bocah yang tak disebut namanya, sebelas anak lainnya terluka dalam serangan itu, ketika tembakan tank menghantam sebuah rumah di Kota Gaza timur.
